Welcome Little One

The end is here, goodbye Look. By being given the opportunity of doing this month internship, it has given me the experience and the knowledge of how much hard work I need to put in, in order to succeed in the fashion industry. Most of the girls who worked at look, all started out via an internship some were a month and some were several months and varied from being paid to unpaid. It has also made me more interested in the PR side of the fashion industry and hope to do something along those lines when I/if I get into University in London. 
I went home on Friday, I travelled back with Aaron because I just of chance, remembered I needed my GCSE certificates etc for my two University interviews on Tuesday and Wednesday. I then travelled back with my friend Lydia, Jasmine and Rhiannon for a night out for Lydia's 21st. 
I was so happy to be home as my sister had her baby boy, Oliver on Wednesday so I was so excited to see him. He is gorgeous, what babies are not when there new born! It was nice to have a cuddle with him before heading back to London. 
Heres some photos of my night out as well, I borrowed a dress from Lydia, its from Topshop, worn with black falmer knee socks.
I need to start preparing myself for my interviews at Westminster and Epsom now. If anyone can give me example questions that would be great :) I have to do a maths test for both as there business based course and thats what I'm most worried about. 
I think a pizza hut is in order for tonight. Thank god for delivery. 
Ps: Tomorrow I will post my February wants, Ill give you a clue, You wear them on your head.

Day 18 of Internship with Look

Yesterday I mentioned that Look was given away boxes of tights, here is a pair I managed to nab, there black with white wool dots actually coming from the tights, I thought they were really funky. I love them. When I wear this shirt I do worry if it is to short or not but considering I'm wearing really dark black tights, I wasn't to bothered.

Day 17 of Internship with Look

001 I want to start by saying thank you for helping me get to 200+ blog followers, it means a lot, and I hope that the number continues to grow.
I decided to wear dark black tight with this outfit because I found it too short, for work anyway. I love wearing this colour, and I thought by wearing all camel/beige it would look nice, the only other colour I wore was black (tights). The dress ties at the back, which you cant see from the photos and you couldn't see anyway because the cardigan covers it. 
002 Today at Look went awfully slow and dragged on so much. Me and the other interns are left in a huge office on our own just returning things, everybody else has moved to the new floor, we will at the end of the week. But the day was brightened up when boxes of tights (expensive tights, at that) were brought down to us and we were told to take them as "it would be doing us a favour". I managed to grab so many cute knee socks in so many different colours, above is just an example. I ended up with a huge house of Fraser bag full of tights. Im going home with more than I came with!
003 I want to add more of my 'photography' to my blog, so snaps I take throughout my day etc. Here is my first. Its of a photo that is on the wall I am staying in. Its really beautiful and I guess if your a student its quite a nice image to wake up to. Its of the sea in Koh Phi Phi, Thailand. 
004 Thing are finely looking up! I am back with the boyfriend which has made this last week so much better already. I feel like I can focus more, especially with my two University interviews I have next week. He met me from work yesterday, it was so nice to see him after so long! 
Tonight I am going to crack on with preparing myself for my two interviews, I have one at Epsom and the other at Westminster. I have to take a maths test, so I need to spruce up on that and I want to practise some of the questions they may ask me, so I need to do some research.


PS: If anyone could help me. I want my blog posts to be the same size as my header photo with the two columns then down the side but I cant change the width. Does anyone know how?

Behind The scenes at The Look Show

The Look show was amazing. We got there and all the clothes had to put on rails which were designated to two models. I was dressing Paul Wellers daughter, Leah Weller. She was quite a small model and was really very shy. I asked her if she had done many cat walks before and she replied she had not, because of her size. I think she said she was 5"6. She was very nice and surprisingly quite. She said how she was nervous because the people were so close to the runway that she would be able to see them and her Mum was front row, so she was trying not to look at anyone. She only went on once, opening for French Connection. 
I was then dressing Petra Nemcova, a famous super model who went out with James Blunt. She does not look anything like the photos I have just seen on google, she was very pleasant and so smily. And for a model she had amazing boobs, weather they are real or not i'm not sure!
All of the models were really nice there were some that was really enjoying themselves, jumping around and dancing.
After the show had finished we got to go to the after party, free champagne and cocktails, chocolate fountin, famous people jus strolling around. The editor in chief actually grabbed Shanye Ward back as he had left, just to get a photo with me! Cor he is an amazing man. I was over the moon. 
Me and Roberta is one of the other interns who came along to the show with me, we managed to get a go in the New    Look photo booth! 
I then headed to Amersham to meet with friends, so changed from tights to knee socks and boot heels. All in, all an amazing night, I will never forgot. 
I was told that they would keep my details to have me back for the August show, to help out. Things can only get better from here. 
Im a huge follower of LLYMLRS and VIPXO, and I saw them at the show, there were many other bloggers, but I thought it would be odd to say hello. I know vipxo follows me, but it seems that many bloggers introduce themselves, its crazy what the internet can do. 
I've changed my layout once again, I've wanted a three column blog for a while and I finely got around to doing it, whilst making the width a little bigger because I like my photos quite large. What do you think of the new layout?

The Look Show S/S 2011

The show was fantastic. Although I was backstage and did not get a chance to see it, I have managed to catch up by watching it online. I saw the outfits being put together by the stylists, I saw the model castings, The boards of which order the brands would be shown to dressing the models. All of this can be read in my post 'back stage'.
The show, showed the typical predictions for this years Spring/Summer trends, vibrant colour, wedges, leather, floppy hats (big inspiration for Feb wants), tribal prints and animal prints. The models wore very little makeup, with the odd model wearing a pastel coloured glow of eye shadow and some with pink lips. 
The models were told to enjoy themselves and smile, have fun. It was a high street catwalk so stern looking faces is not what the magazine wanted to promote. 
When we got a first chance to go out into the party, before the show. There was Champagne being passed out by men in Hawaiian shirts, the whole atmosphere was so fun. The was an ambush of people queuing for the New Look photo booth, instant photos, which you could wear props in and a flowing fountain of chocolate. 
The paparazzi frantically shot photos as the celebrities began flowing through the doors, including; Olivia Palermo, Shayne Ward, Eliza Doolittle, Marina (and the diamonds), Lucy Jones and many more.
Its great to see things on a cat walk show, that can be brought in stores by those who are unfortunate to not be able to afford those more
expensive items, which we tend to lust for. Considering these are high street brands, the show did a fantastic job at making them look classy and high fashion.

Day 14 of Internship with Look

Looking at this photo and I remind myself of some type of farmer girl. I had my primark boots on at first and that just made me look like a Western cow girl so opted for my black Miss Selfridge pumps. 
The jewellery I have on is what was given to me from Look, there constantly bring bags of things in which is just going to get thrown away, nice freebies. 
Today was so manic, me and one of the other girls decided to stay on and help a little longer as there was so much today before the look show tomorrow. All day I was sorting out the model cards. So each model had a polaroid photo with the outfit there going to wear, so each had to be cut out and stuck on card with space to write details about extras for the outfit, so one button undone or tie up. This is for me tomorrow. Then the photos were placed in brands so all river island and H&M in the order of which the models are going to work out in. So they had to be photocopied. 
I am really looking forward to it. I feel so positive now. I really was planning on leaving on Saturday, I didn't think I could handle another week, especially with what was going on with me and Aaron, but then I realised, I have done 3 weeks, being put through hell of not knowing what is going on with us, I can defiantly handle one last week where at least I no where my head is it. Girl Power! 
He is currently in London at the moment as well, so if anything was to get sorted the time would be now. I can't see it happening, he seems stuck that he does not want to be with me. 
The look show after party should be so fun, I have not decided what I'm going to wear yet and then my friend is coming to pick me up so Im of out with her as well. I need to keep as busy and as positive as I can. There is just no point in dwelling on what could have been. I wish I could change his mind about all of this, but what is meant to be will be. 
I also have an interview on the 1st and 2nd of March, at Westminster and Epsom, so ill be staying in London even longer than expected.

Day 13 of Internship with Look

001 I am now on my third week of working with Look magazine. Thinking about it, it has gone quick, but at the same time I am so looking forward to getting home. 
This whole week has basically been sending things back to stores which is now starting to drag, but there moving offices on Friday (day of the look show) so it all has to get done. 
I was called into a room by the editor in chief yesterday and I have been selected out of a number of girls to help behind the scenes at the Look show on Friday and then invited to the after party, for some well deserved drinks. I will see if I will be able to take some photographs for my blog. 
002 At the weekend I went back home, it was so nice to be back home, although I think I'm currently going through breaking up with my boyfriend, it really could not of come at the worse time for me, but in the end it will make me a stronger person, because I got over it when I had no one around me. I went home as I had a christening on Sunday, photos are above, it was a really nice day and I wore a black pencil skirt with a black boob tube corset all from River Island.
003 My name is in the back of Look, under with thanks. Im sorry the photo is upside down for some reason it turned out like that and I cant get it back. Its in this weeks issue with Cheryl Cole on the front. My name is also on the shoot which I helped out for, the curvy super model search, however they spelt my name as JoannA not JoannE. 
004 The last photo was taken on Valentines day, we were sent cupcakes from a company they were so delicious, we also got these chocolate lollies which said I heart Primark!
Sorry I have not blogged a lot these week, I have not been in a good frame of mind. All I have done is come in and go to bed, sobbing. I also kept forgetting to buy batteries! All sorted now.

Day 8 & 9 of Internship with Look

My camera completely stopped working yesterday hence only having one photo! 
I was so tired from the photo shoot the day before but so happy that my name will be in next weeks issue of Look, even if it is in the tinniest font.
I started my day looking for magazines, particular issues for the fashion photo shoot pages, which I then had to cut out and place in the fashion look book. All for the Look show, which me and the other girls have no idea if we will get to go or not. 
That was the most exciting thing of Wednesday, apart from returning clothes and tidying our fashion cupboard. I had to write some credits as well, for the clothes that are going to be used for a shoot, so i had to write the brands and a brief description. 
I'm going home tomorrow, it has come around so quick and I am so happy. I feel like a little child all excited about something. 
Today was day 9 and I had no camera to take my photos, I didn't wear anything great anyway, just a polar neck and leggings, I felt even more tired than the day before, I couldn't sleep. I am glad that today went really quick, its just what I need. There was only three of us in today, one girl was sick and the other was on a shoot. I spent the first four hours of the day tidying the fashion cupboard in hope to find several items of clothing in which known were found. Then after lunch I continued to search and get on with some refunds. 
I think I'm coming down with the flu as well, as my mum would say I never wear a coat so what do i expect. Just hope I don't get to ill. The sound of my voice says enough.

Day 7 of Internship with Look

The photo shoot was hectic I was there for 12 hours without a break. I started the day by unpacking all the clothes, shoes and accessories around the room so we could find what we needed easily, then when all the clothes were hung up I had to start steaming them. 
The models arrived a little while after, they had been narrowed down to eight girls for the GMTV search for a curvy model with Look magazine. So they were not professional models, they had no experience, but they were all really friendly and very confidant. 
The outfits for the models were chosen, one for their single shot and one for a group photo. I then had to dress them, then they went of for hair and make up. Then I got to watch the shoots. I was filmed doing certain bits and was asked some questions, it was all very exciting, even though I was very tired. 
The worst part had to be the packing up part at the end of the evening. But I was able to go straight after I had finished. My name is also going to be credited on next weeks issue of Look, how great is that! 
As soon as I have some photos I will show them.

Day 6 of Internship with Look

I really think this shirt makes me look at least two sizes bigger than what I am, I prefer it unbuttoned, or maybe I'll get a belt for it. I had to take my photos when I got home because my camera need new batteries, hence why I'm hiding my face.
It was so nice having the weekend of and not having to work all day and night. I spent the Friday night chilling and watching films then the Saturday I watched the Hills while doing some art work then out of no where my friend Lydia called me and invited me up to hers to go out. As much as i wasn't up for it at first i'm so glad I did, it took my mind of being alone and made the weekend go quick. The last photo is Lydia (in the middle), her Uni friend and Me. I wore my coral jeans from Topshop with black paten boot heels with a cropped black vest. I didn't being going out clothes (just the odd dress) as I never expected to be going out. 
I felt so today back at Look but I cannot believe how quick today went. 
I started of my morning doing some returns (the most popular job of being an inter), then I was asked to unpack from the photo shoot that was with Tulisa from N-Dubz, (which I don't think is out just yet). 
I have been asked to go along to a photo shoot tomorrow with the fashion stylist. I am so excited. Its for the curvy super model search with GMTV. I have to meet her there at 9.30 I just hope I don't get lost! 
So today I had to pack all of the outfits for the shoot, I cant wait to see how it goes, and what it's like since this is the route I want to go down. 
I managed to ask her how she got to where she is. She started as an intern for In Style and worked her way up, so there is hope for me yet :).
I feel so much happier today, Im going home on Friday night as I have a christening on Sunday, I have never wanted to see someone so much, I really am missing Aaron, to go from living with them and not seeing them, it's horrible. I've not even spoken to him a lot. Four more sleeps and I'll be home. 
Week one was a great experience and I really am loving every minuet of it. Today another two girls joined us, because of the Look show next week they need as much help as they can get. The girls are all in their 20's and have done lots of experience work either with magazines or PR companies, so i'm defiantly going to try and get more, it seems the best way to get into the industry.
