The summer is all about dressing scantily and showing some flesh, right? Well only if you feel comfortable with the idea of walking around scantily-clad. Shorts may be synonymous with baring all, but in actual fact, shorts come in a diverse range of styles and can be stylish, comfortable and cool – in both senses of the word.
This summer, shorts have been dominating the catwalks and have filtered onto the high street. Available in a whole host of styles, colours, shapes and sizes, here is a look at four top styles of shorts for 2012.

City shorts

City shorts are a fashion ‘buzzword’ for 2012 and are proving to be one of the most popular styles of shorts this summer. These versatile shorts come in a variety of styles but are typically knee length, lightweight (for extra comfort), tailored (for additional style) and have a wide waist, turned-up hems and multiple pockets!

Short shorts

Short shorts – that’s shorts that show a lot of flesh – are in big demand this summer! From bright, eye-catching colours and bold patterns to ruffled and adventurous ones made from recycled materials, short shorts are a prevailing feature of the 2012 summer and look great with a matching shirt and a pair of wedges. Just remember the key component – keep them short!

High waisted shorts

High waisted shorts have been a popular choice of shorts for the last few summers and certainly show no signs of relinquishing popularity this summer. On the contrary, high waisted shorts are a central part of high street displays and can be a great way to either dress down with a t-shirt and flip flops, or dress up with a glamorous top and a pair of heels.

Bermuda shorts

The good old Bermuda shorts never seem to fall shy of the fashion limelight. This light, fresh, comfortable and ‘practical’ choice of shorts make a particularly great garment for a summer holiday, both for lounging around in the day and hitting the town at night.
